RP with Aeryn Sun.

Atton staggered upstairs, singing something which sounded suspiciously like a drinking song, one arm around Aeryn's shoulders to keep himself standing, the other clutching a bottle of Tarisian Ale. He shouldered open the door to his room, kicking it closed and giggling, slightly insanely.
"This is my room. I apologise for the mess."

Her voice had become angry.

"I lost someone, alright. Someone close to me."

[identity profile] stuck-mynock.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 07:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Atton shrugs.
"Fair enough. I've never really lost anybody close to me. I've never really been close to anybody. The only person I really cared about broke into my mind and died a little bit later."

The discussion of Crichton, however little had shaken her. Her expression was one of sympathy however.

"The one you cared about hurt you?"

She was more emotional when drunk.

"Not really. It's a strange story," Atton ponders this for a moment. "She was a Jedi. A torture victim of mine, she had sought me out, said she could save me. Naturally, I did what I did with all Jedi and made her feel as much pain as I could and then ..."

"She entered my head and she did something to me. Made me feel things I hadn't felt before. Emotions, which I had just projected to get close to people came rushing to the surface. It was a very effective method of getting me to stop."

[identity profile] just-a-soldier.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 07:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Aeryn turned her drink slowly.

"She sacrificed her own life to save you." It wasn't a question.

She found, to her shame that her hands were shaking slightly.

"In a manner of speaking," Atton said gruffly, lying back on the bed again. "It depends on what you think is life. I ended up on the run from the Sith, stumbling from one catastrophe to the next in the hope that I'd snuff it. Didn't seem much of a save, really."

[identity profile] just-a-soldier.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 08:03 pm (UTC)(link)
"You might not see it, but I do." Her eyes were like bottomless pits.

She stood up abruptly.

"Erm...do you have a bathroom?"

[identity profile] stuck-mynock.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Atton blinked.
"Um ... yeah, over there." He pointed towards a door on the other side of the room.

[identity profile] just-a-soldier.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Aeryn went into the bathroom and shutting the door softly behind her, dried her eyes on her shirt. She'd been able to hold it in until she had gotten out of sight. She sighed, rearranged her face and came back out.

"I think I need a lot more alcohol." She said truthfully.

[identity profile] stuck-mynock.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 08:10 pm (UTC)(link)
"Drain the whole bottle if you need to. That's all I have though, I'm afraid." Atton said, almost apologetically.

"So, if you don't mind me asking, who was this close person?"

[identity profile] just-a-soldier.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 08:12 pm (UTC)(link)
She followed his advice. She had known they would get around to this sooner or later. She flopped back on the bed, exhaling loudly.

"Just someone I knew. A close friend."

She was reluctant to mention more. She was still pretending she didn't have a heart.

[identity profile] stuck-mynock.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"I see." He turned on his side to look at her, looking quite solemn.

"I'm sorry for your loss." He sighed deeply, as if contemplating something completely different and flopped back down onto the bed, lying on his back.

[identity profile] just-a-soldier.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 08:18 pm (UTC)(link)
She turned to her side, a bitter laugh erupting.

"Don't say that. If anything it was his loss."

The drink was kicking in again.

[identity profile] stuck-mynock.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
"Except you don't really feel that way, do you?"

[identity profile] just-a-soldier.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 08:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"What do you think?" She was staring at him avidly now.

[identity profile] stuck-mynock.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 08:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"I think that you really cared about them, and that it's hurting you. A lot."

[identity profile] just-a-soldier.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 08:26 pm (UTC)(link)
"How can you even tell?"

Her face was made of stone, just like her heart.

She flipped over onto her back, staring at the roof.

[identity profile] stuck-mynock.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
"I just can tell," Atton says simply. "You're easy to read. Most people are. And I'm good at reading people. It's one of the things that made me good at my job."

[identity profile] just-a-soldier.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 08:30 pm (UTC)(link)
She whispered.

"And what if I did? What if I cared about him."

She turned slightly, a bitter look on her face.

"In the end it doesn't really matter.

[identity profile] stuck-mynock.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Just a guess, but pretending you're fine is probably not the way to go."

[identity profile] just-a-soldier.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
"I heard an ancient story once. It was about a Luxan warrior who was badly injured. He kept up the pretence of health and his enemies were too afraid to attack."

She looked at him, her eyes dark.

"It is said, that if he had stopped, he would have been devoured."

[identity profile] stuck-mynock.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"Cheerful story, reminds me of myself," Atton says casually. "But, contrary to popular belief, Aeryn, I'm not going to devour you. I keep my cannibalistic tendancies repressed, except on special occasions."

[identity profile] just-a-soldier.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's just a story." She smiled.

"And since when have you been my enemy."

She grinned a little.

"I'm more likely to devour you."

[identity profile] stuck-mynock.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"I don't think I'd mind that too much." Atton grinned.

[identity profile] just-a-soldier.livejournal.com 2005-07-26 08:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Aeryn would have choked on her drink if she hadn't finished it.

She was feeling slightly wicked tonight.

"Really?" She queried with a grin, turning round.
