Mixed Muses continuity: Kale and Atton.

Atton doesn't celebrate Earth holidays, but he does have that particular eagerness to please that means he revels in the chance to give stuff to people.

This is why, when he saw Kale in the bar, he - without any kind of preceding explanation save 'I've got something for you! - grabbed his hand and started pulling him, with all the fervor of a very excitable puppy, up the stairs.

"Have you herded nerfs? We had a few on the farm where I grew up. Not dignified at all."

"My family were nerfherders. Had I stayed on my homeworld into adulthood, I might've been one - I mean, tradition says that the oldest son of every family is trained as a warrior, but they didn't want me."

"Your family really were nerfherders?" Kale asks in surprise. They really did know very little about each other beyond ... well... each other's bodies.

"Yeah. People always ask that when I tell them."

After a moment's thought, Kale said, "It explains a lot about you."

"Like?"

"You're just very... farmerish."

"It'd help if you gave me some specifics," Atton remarked, reaching over to brush a hand through Kale's hair.

The hand was distracting for a moment. "Very... practical. Down to earth. Hardy."

"All good things," Atton says lightly, setting his hand on Kale's shoulder and pausing to brush it down his arm. "Anything else?"

"Mmm... not that I can think of at the moment," he says, voice distracted at the touch.

"Okay. How's breakfast?"

"Dinner like."

"To be expected," Atton says amiably, hand drifting down to between Kale's legs.

Wanting to at least get a few bites in him before another romp around, which is where Atton seems to be going, Kale takes a fork of string beans and shoves it into Atton's mouth. "Here. Try these."

Atton grins, apparently taking the hint and quickly wolfing down the beans.

"Huh. Not bad."

Good boy.

"Sort of interesting." He regards them curiously. "Long and limp"

Atton just arches an eyebrow.

"And green. They're green. Long limp and green. Not a very appetizing thing, you would think..." Atton better do something.

Atton just lets him ramble. He's curious to see if it will come to a point.

"Green is rather strange, for somethings like mold it means that the food isn't good any more but then you get veggies and they're supposed to be green. Most of them. Not like radishes or anything like that. But then you have fruit, which is not ready to eat when it's green."

No. Not likely?

Atton rests his chin on his hand, waiting patiently.

There must be something in the food.

"Except limes and green apples, but even then they are green too at the unready to eat stages. We had this tree back at the house that Trev and I used to play in. It was completely green, bark , leaves, fruit flowers. You name it, it was green. When we wanted to hide sometimes we'd dress up in green and climb the tree. It only worked on Naldan though. Mom and dad could always find us."
