[Prethreading OOM] Kate and Atton, Koor.

Koor is bright, colourful and loud, for the most part, and vibrant with life.

The door leads out into a large city square, lined with stalls, with a group of masked actors in the centre playing out some form of very overdramatic musical tragedy.

Atton turns to Kate. "So. Stuff t'buy, stuff t'eat, fortune-telling, fights for money, dancing, street theatre, and as I find more stuff in the city this list keeps on growing and growing so I won't bore you with the rest." Brightly. "Any ideas on what y'want t'do?"

"Oh I see. And well, at least a backpack would be more useful than a lot of cattle."

"Cattle are very useful. Or so I'm told." Atton remarks.

"They are, but I don't know if he'd be able to keep them. Plus, introducing an unknown species to Earth at that time might be a problem."

"True. Earth is crazy like that. Fortune-telling, then? And I suppose you could get weaponry for Will. S'what I usually get him."

Beat.

"But that's because I can't think of anything else, t'be fair."

"Sure, fortune telling and then I can think of something Will might like. Might even be weaponry."

"He is fond of weaponry." Atton says, mildly, heading out into one of the streets. "Okay, think I saw a tent in one of the other squares."

Kate laughed, "So am I, nothing wrong with that." She followed him, and glanced around at the sights.

"Didn't say there was anything wrong with it." Atton says, heading into another square. "Okay, think it's that big red tent over there." Holding out some money. "Knock yourself out."

Beat.

"Not literally."

"Thank you, and usually it's the other guy who has to worry about that." She winked, and then went to head into the red tent after she accepted the money.

Atton grins, before settling back to wait for her.

The tent is mostly bare, save for several comfortable chairs and a wooden table with a deck of cards. There's a woman, dressed in heavy furs despite the heat, at the table, smiling up at Kate.
"Please sit."

Some things are universal.

She smiled back, and sat down.

"So how does this work? Money up front or after?"

"Well, I won't protest to money up front." Good-naturedly. "It's unfortunate, but if I had a policy of only being paid afterwards, every client that got angry with me wouldn't pay."

"Makes sense, seems like the business for the former rather than latter." So she paid.

And then waited.

The deck is held out to her.
"Shuffle for me, please."

Kind of like that time with Tower, though cards held a mixed feeling for her this time as she took the deck and shuffled. Thinking of the Trump lessons with Brand, and the cards she still had. The one she made of Will, and everything else that's happened lately.

"Here," And she slammed down the deck with a little more force than she intended to do.

The fortune-teller raises an eyebrow, before laying out three cards. The first one is turned over.

"Your recent past - the Eight of Wolves. You've been trapped, recently. Restricted, caged, in some manner, correct?"

Kate glanced back at her sharply.

"...Yeah."

The second card was turned over.

"Your present: The Four of Wolves, the sleeping wolf. After a long and difficult period of your life, you now have a chance to rest, heal and relax - Even if it's not especially easy."

"Can say that again. Ok, you're 2 for 2 so far."

The third card is turned over.
"Your future: The Prime of Mirrors - depending on it's position, it could be gaining something and losing it again, or losing something and gaining it again."

Kate blinked, "Ok, that one doesn't make any sense. So am I gaining or am I losing?"

"Losing, but then gaining. Maybe in time it'll make sense to you."

"Maybe. No wonder you prefer getting money up front." Wry look back.

"Business is business." Brightly. "Thank you for your custom. I'll be here throughout the festival if you have need of my services again."

"All right, thank you."

She got up, and headed back out to meet up with Atton again.

"Ready for the shopping part. Thinking of checking out the fights too." She was definitely going to donate any won money though.
