After about half an hour in the bar, Jaq limps upstairs to continue tending to his wounds there.

He settles down in the armchair in the corner, cleaning up the gash on his side and vaguely preparing himself to go "I'm fine!" if Lucifer turns up.

Lucifer is in the doorway, not looking happy. "What the hell did you do?"

Plaintively: "I didn't do anything. People did this to me."

"Oh, because that sounds so much better."

He doesn't sound so much concerned as argumentative, but he drops to his knees in front of Jaq's chair.

"What the hell happened, Jaq?"

"Oh, nothing. We liberated Dxun, we were all having a party, some Mandalorian soldiers ambushed us." Beat. "I think they may have spiked the punch, but that may have been Stevens, he has form for it."

"You're a pillock, you know that?"

Lucifer reaches out hesitatingly to touch the skin just above the wound in Jaq's side. "Are you hurt anywhere else?"

"Your face is more of a pillock," Jaq murmurs, wincing slightly. "A few other cuts, some mild blaster burns, some bruising. Nothing serious."

"'s what your mum said last night," Lucifer retorts firmly.

"Div."

"S'funny, because your mum said I was better than you in bed," Jaq says, very solemnly.

"Yeah well, I don't sleep with my mum, so she wouldn't know."

Long, careful white fingers stroke the skin just above the gash with nervous gentleness, Lucifer's nose wrinkled in a frown, and the skin very - very - slowly starts to knit itself back together. He has blood on his fingers, but if he's noticed he doesn't care.

Gently: "Hey, you're getting your fingers dirty."

This is more important, Jaq feels, so he reaches down to take Lucifer's hand.

"Stop that," he says absently, shaking Jaq off. "'m working."

"You don't have to."

"Yes, I do," Lucifer answers, and it's not a snap but there's something in his voice that's like the echo of one.

"So shut up."

Meekly: "Okay." Beat. "I am okay, you know."

"Liar," Lucifer says simply, but it doesn't hold the white heat of his last sentence, and his fingers resume stroking Jaq's side.

"And I am not kissing this better, you know."

It is helpfully incredibly close to an answer without actually being one. Which is nice!
