Jaq is sat upon a clifftop, staring outwards into the distance.

There was someone in the trees earlier, watching from afar, but he's gone now. Jaq doesn't suspect he'll come back soon.

"Jaq, can you get your family to safety on your own? You have to get packed and out of here, persuade your mother, get to the spaceport before they start picking people."

"Then let us hurry away," Teja says.

Kate nodded, "Anything we need to grab from the place before going? And where to? The spaceport? Woods are going to be dangerous with the wildlife and this."

She then considered, "Unless there's a way to get one to take care of the other."

Helpfully: "The wolves will eat them. Or they'll eat the wolves. I'm not really sure."

"I have adequate food and medical supplies." Guppy says. "We can leave right now."

But he hesitates. He doesn't want to leave Jaq.

"Indeed," Teja says, "we can, if we know where we are going?"

"To the spaceport I guess? Best place as any. Though getting through the woods, try to lose whoever's following us."

"You might lose the people with the bleeding eyes. You won't lose the Dark Man, though."

"Then let's outrun him." Guppy says.

"Jaq, take care of yourself, and your family, and no matter what anyone tells you remember that none of this is your fault."

He reaches into his bag, gets out a smaller cloth bag and puts into it some of the food and medical supplies, and some money, and gives it to Jaq.

"Godspeed." He says, turning to go before he can become overemotional and give something away.

Then he turns back.

"Which way is the spaceport?"

Teja shakes his head, amused.

Oh, Guppy.

He says nothing, but waits for an answer to be forthcoming.

Kate sighed, "Where's GPS when you need it?"

"That way," Jaq says, pointing.

"Could you be a little more specific?"

"How far?" Teja asks.

Kate shrugged and pointed out as she was gearing up to go, "We really need to get going if we want to put some distance from these guys."

"That way, for quite a while. Look for towers."

"Okay, thanks Jaq. Same departing message as before."

Guppy sets off in the right direction, at speed.

Teja follows easily, stalking through the snow with long legs like a grim stork.

Kate hurried along the path, keeping alert. She had her bow out by her side. She had also brought her vibroblade along.

It isn't long until there is movement after them. People they may recognise as guards from the village - they wear furs that are more extravagant than most, and carry vibroswords and blaster rifles - start moving through the forest towards them.

There are about six in total. They all have blood on their faces.

Guppy glances behind, unsure whether these are people who need help or are about to attack them.

"Eyes," Teja whispers, grimly. "Look at their eyes!"

Kate's eyes narrowed, and she tensed.

"Guys, I don't think they're here for a warm send-off."

Guppy whips out his stun gun, pulls Teja and Kate close, and sets off the sonic screech - they are protected by being next to him. He then shoots a round of stuns at them all.

When they are hit by those, Teja pulls out his sahs. "Do we ask them questions?" he wonders. "Can we ask them questions? Or shall we give them the mercy stroke, and be on our way?"
