They found a nice tavern, with a tavernkeeper (strangely overly chirpy and always smiling, with just the barest hints of murderous insanity in her eyes) who agreed to let them pay later.

Paying is still a problem, though, which is why Atton's found a wide grassy area - some sort of park that also acts as a market.

"Prepare for surgery." Guppy says, shaking Atton's hand, stepping back the required distance, bowing and then charging forward with a fast punch.

Atton dashes out of the way, silently cursing the fact that his first class is one that specialises in standing still and throwing stuff. Thieves are fast though, so that makes up for it. A little.

He drops down, swinging a leg around at Guppy's ankles.

Guppy jumps a good two feet above it, kicking out at Atton's head and flipping over backwards.

"Mmf."

Atton falls backwards, though he's up again a moment later.

The crowd cheers and start arguing about who's going to win.

Guppy charges at him, juggernaught style...

Atton slides out of the way again, moving to shove Guppy forward as he passes.

Guppy grabs Atton's arm, and uses it to pivot around.

Atton takes the opportunity to aim a headbutt at Guppy's nose.

Guppy slides smoothly out of the way, and punches up at Atton's chin.

Atton grunts, stumbling backwards.

Guppy punches again, aiming for the stomach.

Atton doubles over, muttering something (in good humour) about 'stupid digital blackbelt skills'.

Guppy karate-chops him swiftly on the shoulder, near the neck.

Atton drops to his knees.

"I yield." Atton may be crazy, but he's not crazy. He knows that in the hand-to-hand battle of magic-user versus ninja, the ninja usually wins (after all, he just got a demonstration of it). "Pretend t'knock me out."

It's quiet enough that the crowd won't hear.

The crowd starting chanting, "KO! KO!"

Guppy hits him again, same position, much more gently but with a bigger arm movement.

He gets a flash of a grin before Atton very dramatically curls through the air and collapses against the grass.

(Those who are particularly clever may realise that there is something wrong with this, as people do not usually move in slow motion, no matter how dramatic the moment is. Atton doubts any of the crowd are that bright, though.)

Guppy restrains a snort; clearly he is the expert in how to pass out.

He raises one hand triumphantly to the crowd, then crouches down to cast Heal on Atton.

Will comes over and grabs Guppy's hand to hold it up,

"An the winner, Fishelf! Who wants to take 'im on next?"

Atton makes a show of sitting up very dramatically, as if he'd just woken up, before getting to his feet and heading over to Will.

Whispering: "How much money did we get?"

"Good 'mount, so far will fill least one purse an will do better with the next one."

Will makes it look as if Atton is kind of leaning on him so its not too suspicious.

"We may have enough to pay the tavern keeper, then. I'll go ask Guppy if he wants t'earn more, though. Keep the crowd interested?"

Atton puts on a very overdramatic limp as he heads over to Guppy.

"Fish, good job raking in the money. We probably have enough now, but if you want to earn some more ..."

"It was Tetra!" Guppy complains at Will, then nods at Atton.

"Who should fight?"

"Ye pay 'em, Atton. Who wants to fight the great Tetra!"

A couple of barbarian types swagger through the crowd.
