At first, it might seem like they're outside, on a very murky night. There's grass, after all, even if it is marred by patches of metal.

They're not, though. A longer look reveals that they're inside a vast, underground room, or a huge cavern, large enough to give the impression of being outside, but with the metal and stone ceiling just in view, distantly. There are flickering lights, here and there, but for the most part it's fairly dark.

There's what looks like a town nearby, but to get there requires traversing a rather difficult looking stretch of slopes, high rocks, half-built walls and rushing rivers.

Guppy wraps one of the torn cloth strips that they used in the rope earlier around his face, and passes pieces to Atton and Will.

Will does the same and waits, he's really getting to hate this planet.

Atton flicks a hand, sending the smoke billowing out the doorway.

He gestures with one hand, then sprints out.

Guppy runs after him, trying not to lose sight of him. His eyes begin to water and he can feel himself choking.

He keeps running and prays that he'll come out in the right place.

Its hard to run through the smoke but Will's keeping an eye on Atton and Guppy.

As they clear the smoke, Atton grabs them and pulls them into a slight depression in the ground, bordered by several large rocks.

"This should keep us safe for a few moments. The village is nearby, there might be a way to the surface from there."

Guppy nods, trying very hard not to cough in case it gives away their position.

Will nods and keeps down close to the ground.

"We need another distraction," Atton says.

Guppy, wheezing a bit, digs through the kit bag to try and find something suitable.

"How about this?" he asks, bringing out a flare stick. "I pocketed it from the escape pod the first time we nearly died on this trip."

"Oh aye, should work just 'ave to make sure we've space to run."

"This'll only give us a split second's head start, so we need to start running for the gate into the village as soon as I set it off."

Guppy nods, trying to quickly get his breath back from the last run.

"We'll make it, Guppy."

"Okay, count of three. One ... two ... three." Atton sets off the flare, before breaking into a sprint for the village.

Guppy runs as fast as he can, his lungs feeling like they're burning. A blaster bolt whizzes past his head, and he runs faster.

Will tries to stay slightly behind Guppy as he runs just in case he falls and a blaster wings his arm but doesn't slow him.

As they reach the gate, Atton waves a hand, sending the gate flying inwards.

Guppy darts through the gate, a blaster bolt glancing off his shoulder just as he's going through. The burn feels white hot, but it's not big, and he keeps running, driven by the adrenaline.

With the gate gone, its a bit easier but Will just doesn't stop.

Atton heads into a nearby, mostly windowless hut, keeping the door open just long enough for Will and Guppy to get in.

"They'll come looking for us, so we can't stay here long."

Guppy runs in, gasping for breath and coughing. But he's more concerned about Will.

"Did you get hit?" he asks anxiously between coughs.

"Aye, but na too bad. Ye should 'ave some water."

His arm's red and nasty looking where the bolt hit but not deep.

"Both of you over here. I'll heal you, Guppy can drink, and then we need to head for that lift. I don't want to stay here longer than we have to."

Guppy comes over, and sits down, trying to get his breath back.

"I am so unfit" he pants, wincing at the burning pain in his shoulder.
