At first, it might seem like they're outside, on a very murky night. There's grass, after all, even if it is marred by patches of metal.

They're not, though. A longer look reveals that they're inside a vast, underground room, or a huge cavern, large enough to give the impression of being outside, but with the metal and stone ceiling just in view, distantly. There are flickering lights, here and there, but for the most part it's fairly dark.

There's what looks like a town nearby, but to get there requires traversing a rather difficult looking stretch of slopes, high rocks, half-built walls and rushing rivers.

Guppy nods, trying to quickly get his breath back from the last run.

"We'll make it, Guppy."

"Okay, count of three. One ... two ... three." Atton sets off the flare, before breaking into a sprint for the village.

Guppy runs as fast as he can, his lungs feeling like they're burning. A blaster bolt whizzes past his head, and he runs faster.

Will tries to stay slightly behind Guppy as he runs just in case he falls and a blaster wings his arm but doesn't slow him.

As they reach the gate, Atton waves a hand, sending the gate flying inwards.

Guppy darts through the gate, a blaster bolt glancing off his shoulder just as he's going through. The burn feels white hot, but it's not big, and he keeps running, driven by the adrenaline.

With the gate gone, its a bit easier but Will just doesn't stop.

Atton heads into a nearby, mostly windowless hut, keeping the door open just long enough for Will and Guppy to get in.

"They'll come looking for us, so we can't stay here long."

Guppy runs in, gasping for breath and coughing. But he's more concerned about Will.

"Did you get hit?" he asks anxiously between coughs.

"Aye, but na too bad. Ye should 'ave some water."

His arm's red and nasty looking where the bolt hit but not deep.

"Both of you over here. I'll heal you, Guppy can drink, and then we need to head for that lift. I don't want to stay here longer than we have to."

Guppy comes over, and sits down, trying to get his breath back.

"I am so unfit" he pants, wincing at the burning pain in his shoulder.

"'ow far 'way is the lift?"

"Not far," Atton says, setting a hand on Guppy to start healing his blaster wounds. "Other side of the village. It's only a tiny, tiny village, though."

Guppy looks up at Atton, trying not to tremble.

"It just glanced off my shoulder. I think Will's hurt more."

"Aye, make it easier to be in an gone. Isna that bad, just got winged."

Atton finishes healing Guppy, giving him a brief nudge before moving onto Will.

"Take a drink, Guppy. I want you ready to run again as soon as I've finished with Will."

Guppy nods and sips the water.

I'm slowing them down. I've slowed them down the whole way.

He uses his breathing control techniques to try and get ready for running again.

"We'll get out o''ere, Guppy. We're a good team."

"It isn't far," Atton says, as he finishes up with Will. He heads to the door, easing it open and tossing his scarf out. It doesn't get shot down. "Let's go."

Guppy shoots Will another grateful glance, and gets up, offering Will a hand.

Will stands up, doing a mix of getting himself up and patting Guppy, "Aye."

Tilting towards them slightly: "You two. Let's go," Atton repeats. "You two first. If they see us as we leave, whoever goes out last is at most risk. Guppy, you first, Will, after him, and I'll follow."

Guppy runs out, fast as he can, hoping the direction to go in is obvious.
