[OOM] Kazic III - Cä-Iudän.

There's not really any such thing as a morning on Kazic III, but if there was, now would be it. There are people starting to mill around the village, setting up market stalls, and off on a higher cliff, guards running through training.

There's something approaching breakfast (some kind of mostly tasteless porridge) being made in the Tae household, but Jaq is conspicuously absent.

"Because they can, and want to. They sound like bullies. Actually, they sound a lot like some of the Skrulls."

"If the Jedi come then we can join with them and mount some kind of defense. If not, then we're helpless. All we can do is evacuate those that we can, and hide those that we can't."

"Cannot one equip a space-ship, and shoot the Mandalorians from the skies?" Teja asks.

"Can any of us even fly a space ship?"

"I haven't, my friends back home. Still. That's one space ship against a whole army though." They only got lucky at the end of the invasion, and that wasn't even the whole Skrull force. Taking on Kree and Skrull armies, they ended up compromising of sorts. She knew how bleak the odds looked here.

"Not enough ships on the whole planet," the old woman says, gravely. Then, abruptly: "If you're looking for Jaq, you won't find him too close to the village. A lot of people will be spouting off superstition, and a lot of people will be looking for someone to blame. There'll be quite an overlap between the two, and he won't want to be anywhere near that."

"Why would they blame him?" Teja asks. "He is but a boy!"

"It's not his fault." Guppy says. "It's important that he should be taught that."

He sighs.

"If we can get everyone to the spaceport, then maybe we can find someone who can fly a ship to take us with them."

Kate commented to Teja, "Because some people are backward and stupid, and just want to point fingers."

She added, "Still the matter of getting there to the port safely in time. We have to be prepared."

"If there's an evacuation ship, it'll go to towns that don't have spaceports. Not this village, we're too small, but there's a larger town a few day's journey by tauntaun where it should stop."

"And how long will it take until those Mandalorians attack?" Teja asks.

"We should pack." Guppy insists.

"We'll help you get to that town," Kate agreed.

Teja has nothing to pack, and he doubts that carrying children to that town will indeed be of help, but is willing to try, or die trying.

Unlike Guppy and Kate, he at least is likely to return to Milliways after the attempt, with Demeter, Carlotta and Charlie ready, hopefully, to once more restore his memory of his afterlife.

"Did you even bring anything with you when you came here? I'm not sure how much you even have to pack," the old woman says.

"My kit bag is still packed, I meant we should help your family pack."

"We should stop arguing, and instead be put to work," Teja insists.

"We don't know which of us will be picked for evacuation yet. When we do, we'll put you to work packing for us."

"How are people 'picked'?" Guppy asks, not liking the sound of that. "Don't women and children get priority?"

"I bet it's more who has influence and money," Kate remarked in aside to Guppy and Teja.

In a louder voice she added, "You're all getting out of here, we'll find a way."

"Who would make such choices?" Teja says. "When we were routed, in my home world, we took with us all that we could, and left none behind that could still walk."

"There won't be enough ships for the entire population. I don't know how they'll selectwho gets evacuated."

"It could be first in the queue." Guppy points out.

"Has there ever been any evacuation procedures before? I don't mean planet wide like this, but in regions? How does it work then?"
