It's very dark.

Not completely dark. There are a few lights, sickly greenish-white, left, to give a little bit of illumination, and they light up the flow of water in the most interesting ways. It's a circular room, clearly deep underground, with a massive hole in the centre through which water crashes down. The railings are broken in several places. There are two doors there, and around each, an array of monitors, screens and machinery, all brand new.

Guppy and Will have been laid out on two blankets, on either side of the pit, and left there, at least until they wake up.

"Aye, we'll get 'im."

Will moves so that he can react to whatever comes out of the door first because he's a bit quicker.

Guppy stands back, picks up a broken rail, then opens the door.

Immediately, a blaring alarm goes off, and there's the sound of rattling and sliding metal from far away.

"Sounds like they've a ways to go 'fore we get 'ere so might be able to get some space tween us."

[guppy_sandhu]

"You think we should run out there without waiting to pick a few off in here?" Guppy asks.

[will_scarlett]

"Nay, dinna wish to be trapped in 'ere with 'em."

[guppy_sandhu]

"Good point." Guppy says, securing his kit bag to his back and picking up a second and third broken rail.

He tosses the third rail out of the door first, to see if anything happens to it, before stepping out.

Nothing happens yet, but there is a sound of clamouring and screeching, getting closer.

Will peers out and holds his rail like a sword,

"Just run an 'it whate'er ye see."

Guppy takes Will's hand, not wanting to get seperated from him, and starts to hurry left.

"Remember what I said about mazes? We can't get lost if we always turn left. But since we might not be able to get to all the dead ends, we should try and mark which way we went at each junction."

"Oh aye, do ye 'ave chalk?"

With a screech, Will uses the rail to scratch on the wall,

"These will work an understand na losin' each other but tis bloody 'ard to fight when ye're 'oldin' someone's 'and. If ye're 'fraid o'losin' me, take 'old o'me arm."

The path is fairly simple - stairs leading upwards, spiralling.

Which is probably not too much of a good thing, considering there are several gangling, greyish-yellow things with big teeth skittering down the stairs towards them.

"Well obviously I was going to let go when the creatures..." Guppy starts to say, but is interrupted by the... things.

He doesn't try to tackle them actually on the stairs; instead he waits for them to get to the bottom and makes a ferocious noise like a lion roaring at them. He then charges, leaps and stabs the first one through the back with his railing as he comes down.

"You're scheduled for surgery." he snarls at the scary thing.

Guppy's line gets a laugh from Will as he moves in swinging the rail towards their legs and guts.

They don't appear to be very hardy (or particularly bright), and go down with sickly squishing noises and shows of yellowish liquid.

"Like it?" Guppy asks, whilst he pulls the rail out and smacks the next scary thing over the head with the other one. "I've been looking for an ass-kicking catch phrase."

He smacks the creature a second time, right in the teeth.

"Oh aye, works."

Will just keeps hitting, at least they go down easily.

Quite a few of them try to squeeze past Guppy and Will, to get down the stairs and to the pepperami in the room beyond.

Guppy keeps hitting and stabbing out at anything that gets close to him.

As they start to move past, Will taps on Guppy's shoulder,

"Come on, na payin' 'ttention us, let's keep goin'."

The top of the stairs isn't far off, and just beyond that, there's an open lift shaft, with the top of the lift just beneath floor level, and Atton chained up - arms strung up above him and feet tied to the lift.

Guppy runs up to Atton, stopping just short of the shaft.

"We need to check for traps." he says to Will. "In case there's anything that would set the lift off. Can you see how we can get the chains off?"

"Oh aye."

Will sets the rail down and peers down over the edge,

"Atton, ye 'wake?"

Atton stirs, slightly, mumbling something.

"It's okay Atton, keep still, we're going to get you out."

Guppy rummages through his kit bag for something suitable and finds a swiss army knife.

"Can you hold onto me so I can lean across without touching the lift?"
