Atton is outside, barefoot and shirtless, practicing with his lightsaber.

He's not so good with this 'rest' malarkey.

Will sees him and makes sure to make some noise, "'lo Atton."

"Will."

Atton puts the lightsaber away, turning. The bruises are all healed (evidently his connection to the Force has returned), though the scars from the whips are still there. It's possible they won't heal.

"You okay?"

"Aye, was more worried 'bout ye."

"Thought it might bring back some bad memories," Atton remarks, wandering over to Will, ruffling his hair.

"Ye're alive though."

Will gives him a light hug.

"Yeah. When did you first find out they were holding somebody at the castle?"

"Day after they caught ye an we kept tryin' to get in but must 'ave doubled the guard since 'elp me. Forgive me that we couldna do more."

"I don't need t'forgive you, Will, s'not your fault. Met the people who hurt you while I was there. Meant to kill them, but I didn't really get the chance." Sheepishly.

"Oh aye?"

"They weren't very nice people. Was going t'get revenge for you, by just breaking their necks, but I didn't see them while I was escaping."

"Thank ye, will get 'em someday."

"They bragged about making you shut up, while I was in the sarcastic comment making phase of things." Atton doesn't sound so pleased about this.

"Oh."

Will's not sure what to say and looks out to the lake as he absently rubs his wrist.

Atton goes quiet.

Awkwardly: "I got a shiny new gauntlet, though. From another world. It's - it's shiny. It has claws."

"That's good, sounds a useful thing."

"Yeah."

Long silence.

"It bothered me." Beat. "I mean, obviously. It was torture, if nobody's a little bit miffed about it then clearly somebody's doing their job wrong, but. They bothered me. I'm not sure if I'm actually much better than them."

"Ye are, loads better than they are."

Dryly: "... I forgot that you're like a fountain of naive and unfounded faith in people, Will."

"Ye're me friend."

"I know. But, and I mean this in the nicest way possible, you're kinda an idiot when it comes to people. You expect the best from people. But, I'm pretty sure that if at the end of five days, they were chained up and I was let down, I would've taken a long, long time getting revenge on them. And that's not even covering all the other bad things I've done."

"Do want revenge on 'em but ye're na the same as 'em."

"No. I know they're way worse than me."

Somehow, he manages to convey through silence that he doesn't think they're that much worse.

"Aye, they are, Atton."

Irritably: "Are you just going to keep disagreeing with me? Look at it rationally. I'm good to you because you're my friend. Doesn't mean I haven't done things just as bad as they have. Or worse. Maybe worse."
