Atton staggered upstairs, singing something which sounded suspiciously like a drinking song, one arm around Aeryn's shoulders to keep himself standing, the other clutching a bottle of Tarisian Ale. He shouldered open the door to his room, kicking it closed and giggling, slightly insanely.
"This is my room. I apologise for the mess."

She smiled gently.

"Just promise me you'll never die saving the world?"

She didn't think she was ready to make jokes about it.

"Promise." He decided to omit the part about him having already done that (or tried to save it, at least) and just cracked a small grin instead.

"Good." She turned quickly and gave him a small hug, feeling very much drained of energy.

Atton smiled, hugging her back.

She was content to let the hug last a little longer. She could switch back at any minute, but she'd probably never be as cold to him again.

"I'm sorry." She never said it enough.

"Forget about it, it's fine." Atton muttered, drawing away after a few minutes, though keeping his hands on her shoulders.

"No." She shook her head.

"It's not fine. You are trying to help me. First I lecture you on saving people and then I frell with your head." She shook her head again, looking downwards. I wasn't fine at all.

"Believe me, I'm the last person you'd want helping you," Atton smiled. "Forget about it, I don't mind."

"Somehow I don't think so." She paused. "Although I guess we're both as hopeless as each other."

"Probably." Atton laughed, moving to lean his forehead against hers.

Aeryn released a breath she didn't realise she'd been holding. He was warm and nice and she was as crazy as he was.

"We've been in here for a long time." She whispered. "People are probably wondering where we are."

"Let them wonder," Atton grinned. "A bit of uncertainty will do them some good."

"I think there's too much of that around this place as it is."

She reached up and moved her hair off her neck. It was sticking up everywhere, she'd had it up since last night.

"You can go if you like. I'm not stopping you."

"No, I'm fine." She was worried he was a little annoyed with her so she moved back and laughed a little.

"Just wish I had a hair brush." She never thought she'd hear herself say that sentence.

Atton raised an eyebrow, smiling.
"I'm afraid I can't help you there, I've never brushed my hair much."

Uncharacteristically she ruffled his hair.

"Well you wouldn't need to." She grinned.

She pulled her hair out and ran her fingers through it to neaten it up.

"I suppose that will have to do."

Soldiers didn't really have to worry about haircare much.

Atton grinned back, reaching up to mess up his hair after she had ruffled it, as if faintly paranoid that she might have made it tidy.

"It looks fine to me, I doubt anybody will mind too much." He remarked when she had neatened her hair.

"By anyone you mean my audience?" She surveyed the empty room.

"Well at least I have two boots now." She demonstrated her balance by walking in a circle.

"Yes. Your audience of chairs and clothing that isn't mine." Atton chuckled.

The friendly atmosphere was probably just what Aeryn needed after so much drama. She gave a small yawn.

"Clothing that you should probably get rid of." She reminded him.

"I like it," He insisted, crossing his arms and smirking. "The mess is a good thing."

Aeryn gave up. One of these days she was going to sneak in and destroy the mess.

She shrugged overdramatically.

"Your choice."

"Yes, it is, isn't it?" He looked immensely smug about this.

"It's nothing to be proud about." she reminded him with a small smirk.
