They've been traveling for three days.

Atton's currently in the galley, hair still damp and curling slightly from his shower (real water! This is a fancy ship, he feels), making nerfburgers. His sword is propped up against one of the chairs, in his line of sight.

"We're good. You can clean my sword, if you like."

Atton has no qualms about using Guppy for manual labour.

"Just be careful with it."

"'ope will be nice, dinna really know what these are."

Yet Will is still happily cooking the strange vegetables.

"Oh, okay." Guppy looks around. "Do I use a brillo pad?"

"No. I cleaned it earlier today, so just going over it with a cloth is fine," Atton says, mildly.

"Oh aye, dinna wish to scratch it up."

Guppy gets a dry dishcloth, and rubs it shiny.

He pauses to look at it now and again, both because it's exciting, and because he remembers it being used to kick ass and cut zombies in half.

It's thin, not especially colourful (metal being what it is, and the hilt having fairly dull, darkish grey wrappings), and absurdly long (to the point where it really should be impractical to use), and clearly made especially for Atton - the tsuba is shaped like his the side-long stylised wolf's head of his clan symbol.

Atton clearly loves it dearly. It gets several fond looks - the likes of which a doting father might give a particularly promising child - as he works.

After about twenty minutes: "Okay. Burgers are done."

"As are whate'er these are, burgers smell good."

Guppy puts the sword down carefully and sets the table.

Atton picks it up, spinning it in his hand a few times (he's very careful not to damage anything or anyone), before picking up the sheath and sliding it back in.

They're both set down as he starts serving up the burgers. He'll let Will serve the vegetables.

The vegetables were just thrown in a pan with something tasty,

"Thank ye, Atton."

"Yeah, this is fantastic. Do we have rolls?"

"Yeah. Cupboard."

Will's just making mmm sounds.

Guppy gets rolls and slices them, passing them around.

"Atton, I've been wondering; when we're going all flashy-lighty-fast, how does the ship not run into stuff?"

"We're not just going flashy-lighty-fast, we're in hyperspace. Like a parallel universe or a different form of existence. A strong gravity field can still pull us out of it and back into realspace, but for the moment, we're not really in regular space."

Shrug.

"Nobody really understands quite how it works - it's not our technology. It's reverse engineered from Rakata technology."

"So a bit like the Bar?"

"How did it get discovered if nobody knows how it works?"

"I told you. Reverse engineered from pre-existing Rakata technology."

"Who're the Rakatas?"

Guppy has taken a huge mouthful of burger, so nods and chews.

"Remember that hologram we saw? The alien with the horizontal stalks? That's a Rakata. They were an ancient civilisation of Force-users that once ruled the galaxy - the Infinite Empire. Created hyperspace technology, a lot of ancient ruins that you can find across the galaxy, and supposedly a massive factory called the Star Forge. I heard about it when I was a Sith, but I never actually saw it. It got exploded, apparently, a while back."

Shrug.

"The Infinite Empire crumbled when the Rakata were struck by a plague, and their slave populations rebelled. Later, they lost their ability to touch the Force, and they treated back to Lehon, or Rakata Prime, their homeworld."

"Almost doesna sound real."

"Has anyone ever studied the evolution of species in this world?" Guppy asks. "There's some very interesting physiology around here"

"I'm sure somebody has. It's a complex field, and one that's not without it's ... er ... sensitive points. There's the whole human to near-human spectrum, for a start, and nobody can really agree on how you define whether somebody is a human, or a near-human, a variety of humans that have evolved and adapted slightly, like the Echani."
