The fight seemed longer than it really was. Time seemed to move in slow motion about Atton as his lightsaber flashed around, blocking Wulfric’s blows. Wulfric was battered, bloody, singed. Atton knew he looked the same - It had been quickly been established that this wasn’t an elegant, well-mannered duel. It was a knock down, drag out brawl, no holds barred.

The cavern was caving in. Several waves of telekinetic energy had sent rocks tumbling from the roof, crashing down around them. The two briefly sprung apart to avoid a particularly large boulder as it crashed to the ground.

A gale was whipped up about Wulfric as he raised two fingers, directing a whirling thunderstorm towards Atton. Atton held his arms in front of him, blocking the whirlwind, closing his eyes against the driving rain and deflecting the lightning back. He slid back, dangerously close to the edge of a pit, before flinging the storm to one side, letting it dissipate in a swirl of mist and sparks.

Wulfric yelled, blowing out a another storm, larger and glowing blue, trailing tendrils of lightning. Atton slashed his hand through the air, a long wave of haze spreading outwards. The winds swirled outwards, the lightning fading about them.

There was a black shape moving through the fog, and a something red and glowing. Atton blocked Wulfric’s lightsaber, grinning broadly at him before letting himself fall backwards.

Wulfric stumbled. In the pit, Atton grabbed a rock, clinging for a moment before propelling himself upwards and over the other man’s head. His lightsaber came up as Wulfric turned, severing his arm at the elbow. The limb hit the ground nearby, silver pendant dangling from the wrist. Atton called the pendant to him, pocketing it

Knee to the groin, headbutt to the face. Wulfric stumbled backwards, fell, grabbed the edge with one hand.
“Stop!”

Atton resisted the urge to roll his eyes.

Wulfric was speaking quickly, breathlessly, hand slipping on the rocks.
“I made sure your brother was never seriously harmed. Shimon and Roza both wanted to break him. They would’ve made you watch. I stopped them. You’re in my debt.”

Atton considered this, thoughtfully, crouching down to fix Wulfric with a hard stare.
“You’re right. I’m deeply, deeply in your debt.” He reached down, hand resting on Wulfric’s. “If I help you out of this pit and make sure you don’t fall to your death, my debt is repaid, yes?”

“Yes!” Wulfric answered immediately. “Just help me out of here!”

Atton nodded, reaching down to take Wulfric by the wrist and pull. He gathered the Force around Wulfric, lifting him out of the pit and onto the solid ground without letting go of his arm.
“My debt is repaid?”

Wulfric nodded mutely, breathing heavily. He tried to drag his arm from Atton’s grip, without success.

“You don’t seriously think I’m going to let you live, do you?” Atton’s hand glowed. Wulfric’s arm caught alight, turning brown, then black, ash flaking away from bone as blue flames licked across it. “After you were party to kidnapping three people, including my brother, imprisoning them, tricking me, torturing me, re-capturing me and murdering somebody under my protection?”

“You owe me.” Wulfric protested weakly, voice tight.

“I repaid my debt to you. I owe you nothing.” Atton snapped the skeletal arm on the last word, tossing it into the pit. Reaching for Wulfric’s shoulders, he lifted him up to his feet. “Five seconds. Run.”

Wulfric fled, his sprint ungainly, slow, clumsy. Atton counted to five under his breath and moved after him, too fast to see, lightsaber hissing on and swinging up. Wulfric was bisected by a long, vertical line, from between his legs to up above his head.

The explosion of red and purple flames from his body shook the cavern. The rocks started falling faster, the ceiling shuddering as more and more of it dropped downwards.

A quick glance confirmed, with a sinking feeling in his chest, that Leyo had already been buried by the rocks. Atton screwed his eyes shut, biting his lip until it bled.

A minute later, it became clear he couldn’t wait anymore. He gave the space where Leyo had been left a brief nod.
“Force be with you.”

With a shake of his head, he headed for the stairs.
