“Aw, who’s the most adorable little thing ever? Is it you? I think it is. Oh, yes it is. Yes, it is.”
“... Jaq.”
“Are you comfortable?”
”Jaq.”
“What?!”
“Jaq,” Lyman hesitated, for a moment. “You do realise that’s a snubfighter, right?”
Atton glared at him, moving in front of the long, metal shape of the Dart protectively, one hand adjusting it’s cover.
“You’ll hurt it’s feelings.” He protested, before turning and whispering down towards the ship. ”It’s okay, he doesn’t mean it.”
“Right,” Lyman made no attempt to hide his irritation. “Well, when you’re done cuddling your ship, I’ll be at the cantina.”
“Do I detect a note of jealousy?”
”No.” Lyman snapped. “I’m just annoyed. Since you’ve arrived, you’ve barely said two words to me, but you’ve read stories to an inanimate object.”
”But it needs them to go to sleep. Otherwise, it’ll have nightmares and - ...”
”Shut up, Jaq.” Lyman blew out a breath, running a hand through his hair. “I wanted to give you something. Here.”
A flimsi envelope flew through the air, landing neatly in Atton’s hand. He peered at the seal, for a moment, before tucking it into his pocket.
“Thanks. I think.”
