The room they come out into is dark - Not because it's night, there's not much difference between night and day in the lower levels, and there are no windows anyway, just because the lights are turned off.

However, it's still pretty clearly a dormitory - Not a particularly nice one, but there's nothing wrong with it, either. It's just very plain, with bunk beds lining all the walls, except where there's a wide, double door. And a lot of sleeping, scruffy boys, of ages between eight and seventeen.

Jaq puts one finger to his lips, gesturing to be quiet, before moving slowly, and quietly, towards the double doors nearby.
